Maryam Nawaz Meets US Diplomats to Boost Pakistan-US Cooperation

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz met with US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker and US Consul General Kristin K. Hawkins in Lahore on Tuesday to discuss ways to strengthen the Pakistan-US partnership. The high-level meeting focused on expanding cooperation in key areas, including trade, regional peace, and security.

During the meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz acknowledged the United States’ role in promoting peace in South Asia, particularly its support during recent Pakistan-India tensions. She expressed appreciation for the US efforts in encouraging ceasefire agreements and maintaining regional stability.

Highlighting the growing cultural ties between the two nations, the chief minister also thanked Natalie Baker for supporting Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League. She noted that sports and cultural exchanges serve as important bridges between people.

Describing the Pakistan-US relationship as one based on shared values and strategic interests, Nawaz emphasised the strong connection between Punjab and California, referring to the sister-state bond between the two regions. She expressed her commitment to strengthening both economic and social links.

Maryam Nawaz also discussed Pakistan’s potential as a strategic partner for the US, especially in sectors like textiles and technology. She underlined the contributions of the Pakistani-American community in fostering bilateral ties and serving as a vital link between the two countries.

The leaders also addressed joint efforts in tackling global issues such as climate change, sustainable development, and food security. CM Nawaz praised Natalie Baker for her active engagement and diplomatic efforts, calling the US a key international partner for Pakistan.
